Pidapipo Hot Chocolate (23/06/25)

Image
The other day, I caught up with my friend Vani over a hot choccy at Pidapipo on Lygon St. Now what's unusual about the nature of this hot choccy is that Pidapipo is an Ice Cream spot; or a gelateria if you will. Whilst I am starting to hear of more and more ice cream spots serving up hot choccys these days, this was still a first.  This hot choccy was a premium hot choccy; which seems pretty consistent with most of the other ones I've been trying lately.  As such, it was $10.50 and is the sort of hot choccy I'd try out and enjoy but not really try again anytime soon. I don't mean that in a particularly negative way; that's just the reality of it. That being said this isn't the case for the other premium hot choccys I've tried recently which I would deem worthy enough to try out again if ever I'm in the area.  Whilst Pidapipo's hot choccy had its 'highs, they were brought down with some valid lows. Case in point; the flavour and texture of this b...

Chokolait Hot Choccy Review (Dark)

The other day; Hanza and I made a stop at Chokolait on the way into uni to try out their Hot choccys. The spot itself looks pretty cool and is pretty cozy and tucked away from everything despite its location. What drew Chokolait to our attention was the fact that these were Belgian hot choccys which is outside the usual for us. Alas we decided to give it a crack.  This may be a poor way of reviewing hot choccys and I will try not to make a habit of it - but I can almost split this experience into 2 despite only having the 1 drink. I got the Dark Hot Choccy whilst Hanza got the Milk Hot Choccy. Now having my partitioned the experience into 2; I turn your focus to the first experience which was the first couple sips. Immediately, it felt like I was swirling in choccy decadence. The extremely thick and rich texture as well as the dark choccy flavour were the first things that come to mind with the first sip. The following sips were more or less the same with the addition of me n...

Lindt Signature Hot Chocolate Review (Hazelnut)

Image
Today, Kurt and I had a go at the Lindt Hot Chocolate out in Docklands. Now, as you can imagine, there was a variety of Signature Hot Chocolate flavours to choose from; Milk, Dark, Hazelnut and Salted Caramel. I personally don't reach for hazelnut as my go to flavour of chocolate, but seeing as I've never seen a Hazelnut flavoured Hot Choccy, I thought it fitting to give it a go. (Kurt also had this).  Instantly, this became a contender as a top tier Hot Choccy. It's got a very rich and chocolatey feel to it and there is definitely a hazelnut flavour to it albeit a subtle one. Despite the rich chocolatey aroma and taste, the hazelnut flavour is definitely there and not at all overshadowed. The creamy texture of it is also a huge plus point that speaks to the quality of this hot choccy. Honestly, this one is extremely solid pick quality wise as well as innovative as I've never quite seen a hazelnut flavoured hot chocolate.  Despite the glaze I've laid on for this hot...

Mork's Review (Backlog)

This is my first (of many, hopefully) blog post on this blog. This is my review of Mork's Hot Chocolate.  Morks; at the time of me writing this, is up there as one of my favourite Hot Chocolates. It served as my introduction to hot choccys with dark chocolate which I have since fallen in love with. The first time I went was with Santhiya, in the CBD location, and I got a junior dark hot chocolate which notably has consists of 50% cacao (not entirely sure what this means but I'll find out somewhere along this journey and provide a clearer definition for it). The rich texture of it and chocolatey feel was honestly insane from the very first sip. Since then I have gone many times and have graduated up to the original dark hot chocolate which is 70% cacao. That being said, Santhiya got a Campfire House Hot Chocolate which we didn't like because it tasted like campfire smoke but we can appreciate as it was accurate. Overall, the Hot Choccy at Morks is incredibly solid and I do c...
