Lindt Signature Hot Chocolate Review (Hazelnut)
Today, Kurt and I had a go at the Lindt Hot Chocolate out in Docklands. Now, as you can imagine, there was a variety of Signature Hot Chocolate flavours to choose from; Milk, Dark, Hazelnut and Salted Caramel. I personally don't reach for hazelnut as my go to flavour of chocolate, but seeing as I've never seen a Hazelnut flavoured Hot Choccy, I thought it fitting to give it a go. (Kurt also had this).
Instantly, this became a contender as a top tier Hot Choccy. It's got a very rich and chocolatey feel to it and there is definitely a hazelnut flavour to it albeit a subtle one. Despite the rich chocolatey aroma and taste, the hazelnut flavour is definitely there and not at all overshadowed. The creamy texture of it is also a huge plus point that speaks to the quality of this hot choccy. Honestly, this one is extremely solid pick quality wise as well as innovative as I've never quite seen a hazelnut flavoured hot chocolate.
Despite the glaze I've laid on for this hot choccy, it's not without its' shortcomings. It is quite expensive at $7 for a small, $7.90 for a regular and $8.something for the large. (although as I try more and more hot choccy's, i realise this is a standard price range for 'luxury' hot choccy's). In addition to this, whilst not milky by any means, I have had richer/thicker hot choccy's before, namely at Morks. The more dense hot choccy's typically, for me, give a better feel for me texture wise. But I suppose that's just my opinion. Also geographical scarcity and lack of loyalty/membership system really grinds my gears although I've been told (by Kurt) that many places will not have these. I guess I'll be the judge of that as time goes on.
Overall, excellent Hot Choccy, would definitely recommend trying it out at one point.
Thank you.
